The OpenID Source Project
What is OpenIDSource?
OpenID Source (OIDS) is a collaborative work platform for OpenID. Through a global project, the constant evolution and progress of which can be measured in real time, it seeks to create a network of OpenID services encompassing the entire globe. It follows the present development of OpenID; it is interwoven in the culture of the community, and operates for its benefit.
Why is OpenID Source necessary?
In our world, the value of an individual’s identity has become of paramount importance. OpenID offers individuals the means to control the fate of their own identity. If, tomorrow, large global businesses end up owning a majority of end users’ identities, OpenID will have lost its “raison d’être”. To avoid this, we are seeking to create a large, independent network, able to become a key player in the arena of the “identity market” and to play a determining role, always striving to protect the individual and their personal data.
How does it work?
This network centers around, and is organized by OpenIDSource; however, it is not controlled by a commercial entity. It is managed by the OpenID Source community at large, represented by its administrating members, who democratically control developments and take action. How is it all organized?
We place trust at the foundation of our system. This is the reason why we wish
to leave each country free to adapt the OpenID Source on the local level.
Emanating from a common base, general but in constant evolution, elaborated
collectively, applications descend towards OpenID service autonomous poles.
These are essentially local, function in the local language; the are privileged to offer the best possible services, developed by the community.
These services, first and foremost, inform reliably and precisely Ends Users on
the OpenID concept. They present to them the advantages offered by the control
of multiple Internet identities. The local centers offer to act as Robust OpenID
Provider, offering a service uniquely centered on the management of these
identities through the assistance they give sites and businesses in integrating
OpenID into their SSO, in presenting the concept to their users or clients.
OpenID—For Whom?
Just as most Internet projects, OpenID Source uses licenses to determine the
legal framework for its use. This being said, it is open to everyone,
individuals, universities, Internet sites, SSO companies, independent engineers
working in Open Source... all are invited to participate in this extraordinary
adventure which will greatly contribute to the implementation of OpenID in the
world.
Welcome to all of you...
